Training Opportunities
Voices for Children conducts Pre-Service Training Classes twice each calendar year for those interested in becoming a Volunteer Guardian ad Litem. Currently these classes are scheduled in March and October. Voices for Children also offer ongoing continued educational opportunities each month for our volunteers to attend and participate in. Each month a new exciting topic is offered to help our volunteers expand their knowledge of the welfare of children and introduce them to agencies in Lorain County with resources that can assist with their cases. Each year Voices for Children volunteers are expected to complete twelve (12) hours of continued education.
In addition to the pre-service training offered through the Voices for Children Program, our volunteer guardians are able to attend continuing educational training classes through Lorain County Children Services. Each and every month, there is an available 25 to 40 hours worth of training. Each training class offers a wealth of information and is very relevant to issues that are involved in the cases they serve.
Is now mandated by the Ohio Supreme Court through GAL Rule 48, that all volunteer guardians must attain at least 3 hours of In-Service training per calendar year in order to maintain their certification as a guardian.
